INTRODUCTION
  1. Purpose
    1. Understanding what took place at the new birth.
    2. What actually happened and what does it mean to you?
    3. Christian maturity.
    4. Without an understanding of what happened at your new birth, you cannot achieve true Christian maturity. If you are not growing you are deteriorating.
    5. The work of the Holy Spirit in and through the believer.
    6. In the Old Testament, with few exceptions, the Holy Spirit "came upon", never "came in". The indwelling of the Holy Spirit is a New Testament phenomenon, first occurring, prior to the Day of Pentecost, with Mary, Jesus’ mother; Zechariah and Elizabeth, John the Baptist’s parents; John, himself; and, finally, Jesus of Nazareth.(Jn 14:17,18)
    7. The key to victorious living
Letting Jesus live His life anew through you.
  2. The Need for Such a Study
    1. Salvation is an event; sanctification is a process.
      1. Believe…and…be saved
      2. Work out your own salvation…
    2. "Old things have passed away…all things have become new". (2 Corin 5:17)
    3. The Conflict(Rom 7:13-8:11)
      1. Stated
      2. Its effect
      3. Its source
      4. Its helplessness
    4. The Resolution
      1. Its source
      2. Its application
      3. Its result

What does all that really mean in practical application?
